Josh Zakim Statement on Supreme Court’s Janus v. AFSCME Ruling

June 27th, 2018

“Today’s ruling in Janus v. AFSCME is part of a concerted, ongoing attack on the labor movement and workers’ rights. The right of workers to collectively bargain is fundamental and a vital tool in the fight to reduce economic inequality in our society. I stand in solidarity with workers everywhere, not just today but every day. The decision by the Supreme Court is a setback and an attack on working families, but the spirit of our labor workforce won’t be broken. Union membership is increasing as the income gap in our country grows. It will be up to our elected officials to support the labor movement and every hardworking man and woman in not just words but in action. I am proud of my support of unions in Massachusetts, and proud that many have chosen to support me in my campaigns. We will continue this fight together.”
